Hi guys and gals,
A few of may remember I asked for a way to spot mines. The reason was (of course) a close encounter with one in AN52... On the other hand, I couldn't quite beileve it: The water is 60+ meters deep and we are some 100km from shore and more than 130 from Hartlepool. BUT YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT, SON! Yes, there is a minefield there in GW: If you draw a circle 45kms with center at the lower left corner of AN52 - stay out of there! There may be more, and it may be bigger - but there is no reason for you to go BOOM as well. ![]() Currently sailing straight north, and it's been some time now since I saw one (external view from below the boat) - but I did sail right over one some time ago ![]() BRGDS Sven |

It is IIRC the Eastern barrage which went all the way up the English coast on the Eastern side to allow a barrier between uboats and traffic using coastal routes
Will have a look for some info for you |

Yep, I've nearly fallen foul of this minefield, dived to avoid an aircraft only to find a mine going past my starboard side!
