Default SHIII - External Torps Question?

How do you get your crew to load them?

It can only be done in good weather with winds less than 10 m/s and you must have crew on deck. Bring up your torpedo layout screen using WE and you can only load the forward or stern external if there is a reserve slot open, plus you must have efficiency in the compartment you are loading into; either bow or stern. Thos with Torpedo qualifications.

Once you are ready to load the externals. Simply click on it and drag it to the reserve spot and it will start to load. Takes about 10 minutes.

Forward externals can only be loaded into bow reserves and stern externals can only be loaded into stern reserve. Stern cannot be loaded into forward reserve.

Actually it takes a lot longer than 10 minutes. More like between 60 and 120 minutes. Also, the torpedo won't immediately load into the internal reserve. Instead, it'll grey out and, as time passes, start to blacken. Once the necessary time has elapsed, it'll disappear from the outside and appear inside.

You're not supposed to be able to bring them in when the weather is rough, but actually, the game doesn't check that... I've been able to bring them inside even in the foulest of weathers. The stern ones are a bit tricky though, since you'll need people both in the aft AND stern torpedoe rooms in order to bring them in.

Make sure you don't have Silent running commanded as well. If you do, nothing will happen. Other than that and what has been posted, you should have your torps loaded.

Uhm you rather meant bow and stern torpedo rooms?

Anyway weather doesn't affect loading, you can do it whenever you want as Dantenoc already said.
