I'm pulling this from memory, so I might not get it verbatim.
1) Stern torpedo room gets damaged; lots of damage and flooding. It gets repaired and pumped dry. Later on I go to reload torps, and fully crew the compartment. But when I go to place an officer there, I get the message: "compartment destroyed!" 2) I right-click on the damage control team to send them off-duty to rest, and get the message: "cannot man guns in rough water!" 3) Ditto #2 when trying to fully man the DC team by left-click/right-click manning. 4) I ask for visual contact report, and only half the line appears in the message area. What gives with this? |

Number 4 is a personal unfavourite of mine... I usualy just ask for something useless like a weather report afterwards so the messages scroll and I can read what I really wanted in the first place... it irks me because it should've been fairly easy to fix.

1. Hit F7 and if the picture of your boat shows an area in red, it is completely destroyed. You can put in crew all day to no effect at all. 2. Sounds like bug to me. I never tried the clicking of crew in a room so they go to rest in crew quarters. I will give it a try. 3. Ditto my number 2 4. I ask for the contact information twice to bring up the last sentence you cannot see. I agree it is a pain that this window cannot be made bigger.

This is just the developers way of showing destroyed. You can shove in all the people you want and nothing happens. Concidering what the CPU has to do to run the game, things like showing damage and water in a destroyed room propably was on the end of the list of things to include so the CPU could continue to run the game smoothly. I know if the conning tower is damaged and you go to attack scope (which you can do) the scope does not go up as it is damaged. But, it looks ok in the F7 screen and I can go into the room.

I man the stern torpedo compartment. They load torpedoes. The tubes fire. The stern planes work. The rudders and propellers work. The outer tube doors open and close. I can't get an officer inside. That's what I don't understand. |

The number 2, happens with me too, but I notice why, often when one puts the mouse and click to send them off, the area that is selected is the main gun,or the flack gun. Don't know why, the game detectes the mouse near it or something and operate like the mouse cursor is on top of it.
Bug, of course. I think...eheheh And of course number 4 is the must... |
