No TC with stationary sub

Spurred on by the infiltrate NY thread, and since I was in the area, I thought I'd see what NY harbor is like in GW - more activity! I evaded four patrolling destroyers, but decided to sit on the bottom just outside the harbor entrance until the lousy weather / poor visibility improved. I tried to sit the sub gently on the sea floor, but at zero knots the sub wouldn't sink after ordering a deeper depth. How do you get a stationary sub to sink?

Also, was unable to use TC with the sub stationary - wouldn't go past 1. Is this normal or part of GW?

GW 1.1a has the "hummingbird" thing where your sub will hover without moving. Personally I like this. Others deem it one of the Eight Deadly Sins. So if you just want to wait, you can just hover and enjoy the quiet.

You can't really sit on the bottom as they did in real life, since under most mods you'll end up bouncing constantly and doing damage to your sub till you sink. Though I haven't tried "resting" with NYGM 2.2 yet.

Can't think of a reason you couldn't TC past 1 unless you were maybe taking damage or something? At critical depth maybe?

This is a game setting when near land.

I think its your main.cfg in your Mydocuments/sh3 directory.

The setting within if i remember correctly is "Landproximity=1" Just change that one to 1024 and your set.

I'm running Grey Wolves and I am able to go from the surface to
periscope depth while doing "0" knots. Then I went from periscope depth back to the surface. Kinda neat to watch the Sub just rise out of the water. I Haven't tried to go deeper while stationary from
periscope depth so don't know.... I did lay on the bottom one time in the vanilla game but haven't tried it with Grey Wolves. I did not time compress while there tho....
