several question.s... (running GW supermod)

i gots! questions :hmm: that is probmmblems. -->

- so i am running the GW supermod, right?

- and i ran the scapa flow mission for maybe the first time. and when in the port (really close to all the ships and destroyers circling) i am having (for maybe the first time) tremendously slow frame rate! just slooooooooooow click click click! arg! $%@!****

- i once torped a HUGE cargo (that turned out to be Brazilian) in baaaaad weather. rain, sleet, -12 visibility. the icon was GREEN when the ship was brazilian. doesn't green mean axis-friedly?

- i have used "fast" setting on my torps several times. they've just hit and boom but no explosion. just a loud BANG! why?

- i......... forgot wqhat i wanted to ask. to much beer. hiC!

- when torping a ship now (since GW changes) do u wait for the "she's sinkin'" call? or how do u know it's dead? do u stay w/it until death ?
thnx!

We're gonna have to take your word for it.

GW really does up the graphics of SH3. It's best to turn off any antialiasing you might have on, that'll just slow you down even more. Turning your Particle Density down under global options helps some as well.

Nope, Green = neutral. Blue = Friendly (Axis) and Red = Enemy (Allies). Though, with GW all contacts should be grey?

Make sure you're firing from at least 400m or so away, taking into account their closing speed. Also try to get 90 degree hits --> T <-- instead of --> |\ <-- if that makes sense.

Usually wait for confirmation if there's no one else around yeah. With GW some ships can take hours to sink, so you might need to finish it off with another torp or deck guns below the waterline of non stinking areas perhaps.

To add to what Kylania said, the harbor traffic mod that GW includes causes a very bad slowdown around ports, due to resources being used to keep track of all the extra ships around you. Small price to pay for the increased awesomeness, as the problem seems to go away (or at least get better) with lower TC settings

Once it sinks and you see the broken ship icon, the color of it tells you if it was friendly (blue) neutral (green) or enemy (red). The same goes for city names. The color of them tells you their stance. Until you actually sink it though, your only way of telling is by flag recognition.

Welcome to the world of pre-1942 German torpedoes. Magnetic pistols had a tendancy to be very unreliable. But it sounds like you're using impact pistols...hmm...If they're actually hitting the ship and bouncing off, then you have one of two problems. As Kylania said, your angle on bow (AOB) may be too much or too small. Generally with impact pistols you should attempt to fire at a 90 degree (+/- 20 degrees) AOB. If that's still not the problem, then it could be that your depth setting is too deep. Remember that ship's hulls curve at the bottom. Try setting your fish to run shallower and that should help you hit the nice vertical side of the ship's hull. Just remember not to set too shallow, especially in rougher seas or else you'll get surface runners that have a much greater chance of prematurely detonating due to the interference of the wave action

I generally stay submerged about 800 meters away in good position for a coup de grace shot if needed. GW uses the NYGM "flooding" model for ship damage. As in real life, it could take hours if not days for a ship to fill up enough for negative buoyancy to kick in and take her down. When you get the "She's going down!" call, then its added to your total and you can jet. You can actually be a good distance away and still get credit for the sinking.

I generally don't like to stay surfaced while I'm waiting unless I'm finishing her off with the deck gun. Sinking ships are sending out distress signals and if a destroyer is in the neighborhood, they're gonna bee-line straight towards you. If one does, then you're already in good position to fire off that last torpedo at another part of the damaged ship and beat a hasty (but quiet!) retreat.

I made that stupid mistake last night. I upped the TC while waiting for this tanker to go down and forgot I wasn't submerged. Before I knew it, I was sunk.
