Problem with the career mode!!!

I started my career recently (I'm a newcomer, and this question maybe silly for all of you guys) and I found that I cannot save my career and exit after a patrol successfully(i.e. I cannot go to the second petrol and it always tells me I havn't done the first one)

How can you guys end the game with the petrol competed, and the sinking record saved?

Should I go very choose to the pier (i.e. where I start) before I leave the program?

or press some special keys to do so? The manuel didn't tell anything about it

The mission objectives are followings:

1. Reach grid AK39
2. Petrol grid AK39 for more than 24 hours

I did them all and it told me I was successful to do so!

Also, how can I spend a day in base if I wanna do nothing?
Is there a key for me to do so?

When on mission you have 2 ways to quit the patrol.
1. press ESC and choose from the screen to sail to home base, or
2. If close to base harbour then it reads "dock at "name of your homebase""

When you quit the mission it then pop up a report page, there all records from the mission can be readed.
