Default External View

Hi,
I sometimes would like to use the External View, because I am curious about it, but how do I get it to function. Plenty of info about the controls but nothing about switching it on. Somebody please help!

Makesure you have it ticked in the settings before you start a mission then press F12 while you are at sea.

Full realism=No external view. That's how I think it is, always plays with 0% realsim

F12 to engage it outside your ship. Shift-F2 to engage it inside your control room.

. (period) key to turn on ship view and , (comma) key to switch to each next ship. Those options are external views but locked onto a specific ship. Period key actually becomes 'next' ship after you've looked at yours.

Hold Shift down to speed up your external camera to close great distances.

Actually they both work the same way. Either one will take you to your ship view, and either one will take you to the next ship (but in the opposite order).
