Ever Used Voice Commands?

How many of you use voice commands with SH3, and to what extent have you integrated them?

And how many of you have tried them and not liked it?

Shoot, and might be one or two others. Shoot is freeware.

i used shoot back when GWX first came out, for the most part it worked and was a good freeware program, only problem is that in times of stressi frequently found myself repeating orders to the point where my wife would walk in right after i exclaimed "CRASH DIVE YOU MICKY MOUSE SON OF A BI*CH!!!!"

When i built a new computer in January... i never bothered to reinstall "shoot"

How much did you integrate it GR? For lots of commands or just 10 or so?

I've used Game Commander for more years than I can remember. In fact I use it with every sim I own, i.e. NASCAR 2003, IL-2, Battle of Britian, SH3, etc. I can't really imagine not using it. Don't know if they even still publisht it, but I've gotten my money's worth and then some. You can use it with any game that uses a keyboard for commands, which of course, is all of them.

I also use the throttle portion of my Saitek X-36 to launch torpedoes, control the periscope motion, open and close bow caps, lock targets and change the periscope zoom. It has a large red button on it which I use to key the mic so that stray sounds don't activate any commands.

There are no actions that I need the keyboard for, except changing course and things like that. I had planned to explore the cfg files and use the SH3 key checker to make some commands to change the actual knot value with voice commands, e.g. "make turns for 3 knots" or some such. Don't know if that's possible, but I haven't checked it out yet.

Default speech almost there....but not quite...

I've been working on a project for a while now. Over on the SH4 forums you will find a link for "SH4SPEECH" created by a fellow called Minsc. The program worked beautifully for SH4. The program operates all Keyboard,Dials, AND mouse commands flawlessly!!...I wondered if the program could work for SH3?...After a couple of discussions with Minsc and much trial and error on my part, I have been able so far to get all the keyboard commands working. I am now working on the command bar and the dials. By working on I must clarify that I have not nor could i begin to create anything. All creative genious goes to Minsc. I am only trying to bring a really cool program to the SH3 world. The program allows me to concentrate on the GAME...not what button i have pressed.
This is a MAJOR project for me as I have never modded anything before in my life!...I do feel i have learned alot though.
I hope in the next few weeks i will have the project far enough along to let Minsc take a look at it. He can probably roll both projects out as a single download.... not sure. So far the program works just as well with SH3 as SH4..
Now ...if the real world will just leave me be a bit...I can finish!!!
Will keep you posted

Guten Abend,

I've been using an all-German command template for Game Commander. It took a lot of work to fine-tune it (phonetic spelling & training), but with skill and the right conditions, it totally rocks. I find it works better with a headset, so that crew voices and sound effects don't trigger commands by accident.

I'm willing to e-mail the template to anyone who wants to try it. As soon as I get GWX 2.0 installed, I'll check the command file to make sure my template still works with it.

Mach's gut!

I was probably going to give it a try, but you guys have made my mind up; definately trying it when I next return to port from my current patrol. Sounds really good.

Think I'll need to get a headset though, if crew voices activate commands that is.

@Ghengis - thanks, I'll keep an eye on that. If you wouldn't mind could you please PM me if there's a release date, just in case I miss something.

Thanks everybody, Gavin.

there is a push to talk option in Shoot... i think i had it set as the slash key on my numberpad or something like that so there shouldnt be a problem with it reacting to crew voices, and IIRC the command isnt actually issued until you release the push to talk key, so the crew wont be verbally repeating your command until well after the microphone has been disabled by the release of the PTT key.
