What's your longest sinking time in GW?
Since the sink time in GW is supposed to be more realistic, I left a disabled (no engines) cargo ship that appeared to be slowly sinking to pursue another merchant. When I came back 11 hrs later she was still there and I had to fire another torp to sink her. What's the longest sinking time you've had in GW?

More than 3 days, maybe 5, large tanker. I waited till the weather was clear and deck gunned it after hitting it with a fish in the engine room. Don't like to abandon wounded prey.

The other day I was waiting for a large cargo ship to sink and ran out of time so I saved the game thinking that I would return later and either finish it off or wait for it to go down. I reloaded this morning to find that the cargo had sunk and was appropriatly marked on the nav map but I didn't get credit for it in my log! One of the numerous save game bugs I suppose.

I think it would depend on situation. If warships were known to patrol near or the ship managed to send an S.O.S. he would probably leave to avoid detection or return later.
If the situation was clear,he would probably sink it there.

Two patrols before I waited for 3 days for 2 ships half deck under water, no more torps no more ammo, must to left because the arrive of one destroyer, finish the patrol and ¡Surprise! was awarded with the 2 kills.

NYGM damage model seems to be real, but what's real in sink time 3 days for instance? Waiting 3 days at the same position after attack is suicide, not real.
I hope GWX damage model will be closer to real. |

Real life sinking times varied..lots of things to factor in ie:- Where it was torped, weather conditions, training of the crew, what it was carring and many other things...i think you will be happy with the GWX damage model
