Original USN naval recognition manuals (FM 30-50) are fairly common and not expensive. They routinly sell for about $25 to $35. The manual currently on e-bay is an early version. FM 30-50 covers US, British, Japanese German and Italian warships.
The Naval Institute Press published a reprint of ONI 41-421, ONI 41-42, ONI 220J, and ONI 225J, which focus exclusively on Japanese warships They are much more detailed and comprehensive than FM 30-50, and much harder to find. The manuals on Merchant ship identification are not common, but are found occasionally. They are all interesting and worth having if you are intersted in WWII submarine operations, (and who isnt! ) Joe S |
