Default Navagation & Positioning

During wwii submerged boats didn't know thier exact position. They had to surface get thier position. So is there a mod that remove player's sub from the map? with current settings it's very easy to slip through Gibralter.

nope. the stars in sh3 arent exactly... correct? theres no way to correctly plot your position. it would be cool for a modder to make a mod that only plots your position on calm clear nights though.

I don't want to navigate by stars. What i want is to have the subs removed from the map while submerged to force me to surface so the game through the navigator get the position. Then it will be very hard to travel submerged.

Don't think there is such a mod ...it might be possible to remove the sub icon from the display, but that would probably also remove it when you are surfaced.

Hmmm, actually I dont see any reason why the navigator cant keep track of the subs position while submerged. He would just use "dead reckoning" from the last known position.
Hehe, wouldnt be much of a navigator if he couldnt.:hmm:

Howdy, Nam.

What I do is zoom in real close so the scale only shows 25km, that way I don't see surrounding topography or spawned ships/convoys. I find targets the old fashioned way.

Prior to beginning a mission I lay out courses with the distance tool, (erase them) then once underway, I use Distance = Speed x Time formula to determine when to make course corrections to get to assigned square.

cheers,

What I know is winds sea current can alter your course and without the sun or stars you can's tell for sure.

Unfortunatly I do not belive that currents are modeled (shrug)
