Default on the new graphics some of them say!

An available hard disk drive power dongle (smaller floppy disk drive connector is not sufficient)

So tell me guys ,what is it, and what does it mean?? I'am not to good at this stuff.

Thanks.

You need a free Molex power connector, attach it to your video card.

Molex:

This is the much smaller floppy power connector:

If there´s no Molex connector left you need to buy an "Y" splitter cable:

Which card did you buy? Is your power supply powerful enough?

It means that the Vid card needs a POWER CONNECTION. If its an AGP type its the standard molex connector (same type as a Hard Disk Drive power connection).
If its a PCI-E type then it will be a NEW type of 6 pin connection (2x3pins black) that is now comming with newer PSU's. IF however your PSU does not come with said connection, a power dongle cable should come with the Vid card to suit. A good brand name Vid Card should come with a power dongle cable to suit either type of connection above depending on card type.

The 7600GS isn´t a very powerful card, it doesn´t need a big power suppy. *If* you don´t plan to upgrade your system again in the near future with a faster video card then buy a not too expensive 400W PSU with about 20 Amp on one +12v power rail.

This one is quite good:

Hmm-the card seems good.Has lots of memory, but the core-clock and memory clock speed don't really seem that good.As I have said in another thread reffering to this card, the FX5700 ULTRA has those speeds ,but has much less memory.
How much does that cost?I'm just curious.
About that connection-I've made a picture of my computer's "bowels" .You can see my 6600GT which also needs one of those "dongles" .

The image is low-quality because it was taken with my phone, but I think you can understand
That card probably has the same thing.
If you buy it ,make sure the wires are set correctly. When I got my GT,some moron wired it incorrectly and about a week I thought it was broken.I had to re-wire my computer myself and then it finally worked...

Core/memory speed isn´t everything. The 5700 Ultra has 82 million transistors, 4 render pipelines, 4 pixel shader engines and a fillrate of 1900 MTexels/s. The 7600GS has 177 million transistors, 12 render pipelines, 24 pixel shader engines and a fillrate of 4800 MTexels/s.

I know that -I was only reffering to those speeds. If anyone wants to compare cards,go here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nvidia_gpu

Gizzmoe& Enaceo, thanks for the help and the picture, I think I'am starting to learn
something now. That 400 watt power supply looks like it would be ok. This is the last time I will update my system. Gateway 510XL 2.8 g Intel
2 G of Ram DDR
120 Hard Drive
128 MB Gefroce FX5200

The next time I get a new system will be when SH V comes out in 2009???
for e-mail and spread sheet stuff this is all I need, and I here that the windows
vista comming out next year is not the best system for games?
thanks for all the schooling on power dongle.

It will most likely be a great OS for games once DX10 cards and enough DX10 games are out, but this is going to take a while. I´ll wait until early/mid 2008 before I upgrade to Vista.

I agree I will build my next PC after Vista and DX10 is out.Plus AMD top of the range cpu's are getting cheaper too.
