Default Grey Wolves, Starforce, and Questions

Been gone awhile and I want to dive in again.

Looks like Grey Wolves is the way to go for max realism.

Questions:

1. Does Grey Wolves include the convoy mod that made the ships zig zag and change speed often?

2. Is there a way to install SH-3 without Starforce?

3. What MODS do people put on top of GW?

Hello!
I don't really know what exatly you mean about that mod ...ships do zig-zag but I don't know if it's a special mod but it is probably included in GW.
Install withouth starforce...<You don't even get a nice try for that one. The only thing that annoys me more than someone openly flaunting the rules, is someone trying to be cute about it. JCC>.
And about tha last one ,well I don't really use anything else with it (except some custom loading screens ).oh,you should try nvdrifter's realism mod (look in the mods section page 2 i think)but that causes some minor conflicts with GW/sh3cmdr but you can still use it and it is a great mod.

So I need GW and NYGM? Why are they not combined?

You cannot combine the two. They are incompatible. Many do a dual install. One with GW and another with NYGM so they can play it both ways.

There is a difference between the two mods. NYGM was made with realism being the key approach. GW was made to add some realism aspects and visual/auditor improvements. Try them both to see which one you prefere as they are both great mods in theyre different respects.

Can't speak for the stock GW campaign but with Rubini's Unified campaign the ships/convoys do zig-zag and change speed. The link to the UC campaigns for GW,NYGM-TW and Vanilla:

I install it on top of GW.

Zig-zagging was first done for the Ops Mod, part of RUB. Grey Wolves convoys DO zig-zag, but they don't change speeds (unless, as zzsteven said, you use the Unified Campaign).

1.) yes.

2.) <...................> forum rules prohibit any discussion <................thats right, thats why this post is censored ..Drebbel....>

3.) Modding on top of GW or any other major mod package is not advisable, the changes are too numberious and many mods touch on the same files in different ways.

Re: Starforce. Out of curiosity I went to the Starforce Website, mainly to find out what the hell it was! Whilst browsing their site, I came across a download link for a small .exe file that removes the SF drivers. Has anybody ever tried that? I'm way too fond of SH3 to risk trying it myself just in case removing them screws-up the game, plus the fact that SF hasn't caused me any problems anyway. I'd be interested to know though.

Keybd, you can run the exe and remove SF. But.... as soon as you put the DVD in and run SHIII, SF is reinstalled.

All it is is a driver uninstaller for starforce, you need that driver installed to play starforce protected games, other then what we cant discuss here.
