I just looked at the DW site, and was wondering if we compare both a bit, can someone answer these;
- can the player in DW free sail to where ever he wants like in SH3? or is DW pure mission based with short distances? - is DW more or less real then SH3, from the U boat point of view.. Anyone who owns both games? |

I am reading thru all of them, a lot of information, so far found the answers:
- DW is mission based.. bah, dont like that much. I like the SH3 freedom much more. - about realism.. I dont know, standing on the conning tower when rain blows in my face is more real then the buttons.. but, may DW has more.. Ill continue reading.. |

To be honest you simply cannot compare Dangerous Waters to SH3...like comparing apples and oranges.
A WW2 Uboat and a modern nuclear powered submarines missions are completely different.The modern submarine is far more capable and more mission based in comparison to the Uboats missions.The Uboat for the most part was used primarily to cut off the supplies flowing to Europe.A modern submarines mission are far wider in terms of what they are used for.So a dynamic campaign really would not fit a modern submarine game.DW's mission based game is more fitting for a modern submarine compared to SH3's dynamic go where you will campaign. |

Well not if they did a total war campaign (not the rts, but the type of warfare) like say what they sorta did with that classic game Redstorm rising (or far better something like F4's campaign which is in my opinion the absolute best dynamic campaign ever in any video game). Perhaps with specific missions worked in.
As for me and DW its sort of a love hate thing, i love many features of it, but i hate only scripted missions as they are rather limited. Also making your own missions is sadly pointless as you will pretty much know everything (making missions for others, and downloading other people's missions works). Also i like driving my sub around, i never cared for warping to a mission point. As for SH3 my biggest gripe with the campaign is a lack of any special missions worked in (ie no specifc goals just general ones) |

Both are quality sims, it`s just a matter of what your tastes are. I prefer WW2 sims because of the primitive technology but sometimes I like to play DW and get spanked by the AI
