Default I'm of to Kyrgyzstan!

Hi all

Just a short notice. In a few days I'm of to Kyrgyzstan on vacation. I will take a closer look on this baby, Khan Tengri aka "Lord of the Spirits". Full report will follow when I'm back in late august. Can't promise summit pictures, but I will do my best.

Cheers Porphy

You lucky guy!!! One of the most gorgeous landscapes, practically untouched and unspoiled, on this planet. Really friendly and hospitable people too.

Don't forget to take your radio with you, so that you will be kept informed about all the important political things that go on in the world. And check the oil price occasionally. And if you still have a job. And don'T forget a laptop. What will you do all day long without a laptop???

I was about to say Kyrgystan doesn't exist...but according to Wikipedia*, it does. Anyway....remember the first thing to do when you go to a country like that: buy an AK47. You never know...

According to people I know from there, it does as well. Plus it is hardly Afghanistan. More idiocy(TM) from Kurishio.

What you fail to say is...it could BECOME the new Afghanistan...at any minute. Does it not end in "stan"? Any -stan is a potential boiling point. I bet he'll be thanking me if he finds himself woken up by a mountain bear sniffing his ball sac one morning...with an AK...no problem...bear for supper. And it's useful for Mudja uprisings too.

Yes, it is a very nice thing to go there, and fine to hear praise for a little known area. At least it was to me before reading up on it, now I can't wait to get there. Hope to bring home one Shyrdak for my apartment floor.

True, I'm a computer junky, but somehow the mountains make me immune to laptop cravings...

Have two DMM "The fly" Ice tools, should do... but I don't think I will have to use them in the contexts you suggest...

A guy named George Leigh Mallory had a good answer. "Because it is there..."

Thx, will be, summiting is a bonus and I won't push myself to hard at altitude if I don't feel ok.

Wowee!!
That'll be a world record for the highest elevation Subsim has ever been displayed. Previously it was the third floor of the Blue Lotus Saloon

thanks!

Awesomeness Subsim is everywhere.

Getting to the serious side that is not the Swiss Alps or even the Rockies...the faclities that exist in more developed countries are less common there. Mind you the Kyrgyz like it like that, they don't want mass tourism to mess up the place so are going for adventure/high end (expensive) type tourism, low numbers.
