GW AI Type II - No Tower or Guns ??

Hi, I just went out on a mission & never really paid any attention to the AI subs before but noticed that there is no conning tower or deck gun!

Now it could be that it has to do with the "AI_Uboats_v2.0" mod that has been installed in TGW.
Can anyone confirm this or give advise please.
Thanks,
Reece.

Hi Reece,

What other mods are you using... there are no Type VIIB AI boats in GW.

Whoops - Type II

I had a closer look & it's a type II, came across the boat when leaving Wilhelmshaven in the evening, so it's a little hard to see. The mod on top of grey wolves is "AI_Uboats_v2.0.rar" by Sergbuto, this maybe causing the problem?
It's a fairly new mod so may not work with GW, I do have some other mods but should have nothing to do with the u-boats.

Probably. Ive never seen this type of behavior in GW's so its proably that mod your running on top of it. I wont tell you to not run other mods with GW, only to be careful when you do. Many mods share similar files, and overwriting one with another will sometimes cause wierd things to happen.

What you'll sometimes have to do when running a mod with another mod, is compare common files side by side, see whats different between the two, find how those settings effect the game, and then incorporate the features needed from both mods into one file. It can be alot of work.

I am running the AI uboats2 and the S Class AI subs as well as the AI wolfpack on top of GW and so far they all seem to be ok - mind you only seen the S class and VIIC/41 so far

AI Uboats mod v2.0 is older than GW because I made it quite a while ago. First, Rubini included it (with some modifications) to his Harbor Traffic mod and as far as I can see from GW's Readme, AI U-boats from my mod are also included in GW 1.0.

I think the best way to avoid confusions like this is to use the exact original names of included mods (as given by original mod creators) in Readmes of big mod-compilations.

Very true, however we had to modify some AI boat turm configurations quite some time ago to preserve some player U-boat graphics fixes... which essentially changed it from its original AI U-boats 2.0 arrangement... and explains why we didn't list it as including "AI Boats 2.0 mod by Sergbuto" ... and why individual components were credited instead.

Its been quite some time... but it had to do with the timing of 3D rendering of AI boats vs player boats breaking some cable-fixes... now the cables are fixed on both AI Type VIIC's and Player Type VIIC's.

This was quite a balancing act.

Found!

Hi, yes it was the "AI_Uboats_v2.0" mod, I didn't use JSGME as it flattens 2 files: "NSS_Uboat2B_shp.tga" & "NSS_Uboat7c41_shp.tga"! so I just copied the mod to the data folder, anyway I had the original GW data folder saved so was able to fix, all of the mods are back in except the AI U-Boats mod & all works fine.
Thanks all.
