Default Insane Black Swan frigates...

So there is a storm going on. U-504 is perpendicular to a convoy. I go into external view (yeah I know, cheater, yeah yeah...) and I see one of the escorts, a Black Swan 4 kilometers away, zigzagging. I hadn't fired anything yet and I don't see how I could have been detected. I have been heading on 2 knots to get to this position. There are 15 m/s winds (yes, 15 m/s), overcast skies, and no precipitation nor fog. It is 19:25 in January 1941, U-504 is at periscope depth heading 2 knots with periscope up. The convoy attack has not occurred yet, mostly because I'm pausing to politely ask what is going on. So, if there is anything I have missed, I would be thankful for an explanation of what it is. Please assist.

Oh, I wasn't sure because... um... I haven't actually done a convoy attack before.

Update: I fired two T1 torpedoes at a C2. Result: 1 torpedo explodes close to the C2, other hits the engine room/fuel bunker/something. Big explosion, C2 sinks. Technically, I have attacked a convoy before, but with a different boat, U-516. Sank a Bogue in 3 hits. That was a good day, but unfortunately U-516 and her crew were, for lack of a better term, deleted.

Sometimes escorts just get 'suspicious'. I've been laying in front of a convoy, well to the side of the lead escort, with engine off and periscope down, and he's started to do the snake search. They just get suspicious sometimes. Not sure if it is related to any real capacity.

As far as I can tell, they always zig-zag, because they have a sonar/hydrophone blind zone aft of them. If they drove straight ahead, they'd also be more vulnerable to attack.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes , they do the snake pattern sometimes in the convoys , perhaps suspicious about something, it is dangerous if the scort is near because they can force you to dive

Yeah, on second thought, they for whatever reason don't "do the snake" when not escorting merchants or battleships. Strange, seeing they did it in reality (at least the US warships in the Pacific did, so it'd make sense for the others to do it, too?).
