Default Extrange behaviour.... is it a knowed bug ?

My first patrol where i back home with dead crew.

I was fighting in a canon duel with a merchant, when a Liberator made a quick pass over me, my creww shot down it but the Liberator dump a rain of bullets and kill all my 3 crew at deck gun. All them was saliors.

Finally i arrive to Lorient with my IX D2, dock at pier, and finish the mission. All fine.

When i attempt to run the following mission, the last saved game at Lorient arrival says ...... "Dead".

What happens ? Was i one of the 3 dead sailors ? :hmm: I dock the ship normally at Lorient !

I sunk 106000 tons of merchants, it is near to imposible in War Ace campaign files, because you need a satellite to found a convoy in these campaign files .... you only found task forces.

I losse 106000 tons .... , was my best mission... i never sunk too many big ships before.... I sunk a Hospital ship with deck gun... no torp expended on this big ship.

Do some body know any reason for this behaviour ?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

It could be that the hospital ship, with it's negative renown, gave you a negative renown upon returning to base... I don't know if you are forced to retire, or simply killed by Bdu... That will explain the "dead" ending

I also think that this is the cause.

or maybe they shot you after a quick court martial decision

did you sink a Hospital ship ? with the gun ??

this could be the cause of yours problems ,.. a big penalty in renown

and the big problem ...and a court martial when you arrive at port :

or a possible a mutiny in your boat

I can believe ! that was the problem...

Well, i note it was the hospital ship after destroy it, looking at the kapitan log (Key K) i had sonar contacts, follow them, when near in the map, i aproach them at my deck gun, when was at about 6000m, i filled it with shells.... and wait for the ship go down, i never take some time to identify it, , was a big ship in red on the map.... 106000 tons losed .

Thanks for help...

Yeah... i know, these are the first campaign file i play including the hospital ship, i must to be ware in the future.... but i am not sure if the ship i sunk with my deck gun was it, the hospital ship.... i soupose it because was the only extrange ship i remember, i remember now, i had used TV and TIV homing torps, and note the TV not always catch the target you aim. I made a night attack, i never aimed a hospital ship, but a TV can been homed by it. :hmm: Some times TV take hands of a target at their pleasure....

But sure i sunk it, because i seen it into the kapitan log (K) and the campaingn finish with ... if i dont remember bad more than 25000 negative renown, i asume it was a bug....

Question... what about enemy (red icon) passenger liners ? They was used as military ships but.... are there in the game some of them with no militar use ? I dont want another military court !

How to know if they are used as passenger liner or troop/ammo transport ?

This push back that old sentence : " in the sea there is only two types of ships....subs and targets ..."

I neeed to use the recognition manual often in the future....

There is no difference. If it wears an enemy flag it is fair game.

Press F1 during game and select 'Attack Orders' and you will see a list of when each country becomes an enemy.

For Pasenger liners only be careful with the flag. if is neutral don´t attack them.

but if is british or U.S.A after 1941 is a good prey usually they carry troops in liners.

Thanks boys.... i had finished another mission yet now, and another time the hospital ship apears, it was in midle of the convoy, into a very dark night, it is very posible to hit it with a missed torp or with a homming one looking for a target.... i must to be ware about it.

Finally i remake that mission where i was "executed", not so lucky with merchants, at the first one i sunk 106000 tons, in the "remake" i sunk only 86000, but backing home, i found a "juicy" battle group, many DDs and DEs, 3 battleships and one carrier.

I was with only 7 torps, shoot 2 to a Nelson class and it was done... + 36000 !

Another 3 to a King George class and it take a lot of time to sink but done... + 35000 !! the remaining 2 torps was not enought to sink the remaining Revenge class. it go far with 2 torps inside, and its bow underwater, when finish the mission was not credit for it, the ship survive.... 35000 losed !!! Arjh!! i waste a torp some hours before to sink an alone DD....

Experience : .... " do not Waste a torp into an stupid DD, you will need this torp in the future !!! "
