i have set up the subs to have a slightly deeper periscope depth--which means that in practice with the scope full up it is barely breaking the surface (especailly in rougth weather) with the consequence that even on auto TDC using the WO to calculate the TDC entrys--
it's
A/ hard to maintain a target lock long enough for him to do the calculation
B/hard for him to get the calculations right--

result he misses frequently

bit of a way to reduce tonnage when using the WO for targeting--and add a bit of uncertainty

course every one here uses manual targeting --so probably best to ignore this post ---:p
