Mines are just irritating...
I tried to get myself close to Portsmouth to lay couple of CB..'s experimental mines on the harbour routes. But I couldn't get my boat through english minefields.
![]() I just hope in some day these minefields or at least part of them could be marked with buoys, so we could have even a little change with them. Another thing with the mines in the mod is that they are allready placed when the war begins. That wasn't a case in RL. -RC- |

In the case of friendly ports i agree. They're simply no reason for them to be there. It's just an unncessary hassle having to navigate through them when leaving port. Adds little to nothing to the game.
In the case of enemy ports i disagree a little bit. I think they need to be present to add in that random chance, but i think theres a point when you've gone overboard with their placement.. Personnly in my own game, i thinned out all the major minefields density by 50%. |

You won't be able to mine Portsmouth harbour anyway the depth at the entrance is only 4m when you on the surface.

Mines aren't much of a problem if one uses SH3 Generator.

Well, I wasn't going for Portsmouth but Thames ending, sorry.
I use SH3Gen, and set it to give me 80 % info with 80 % liability - that's much more I usually use. Ducimus wrote: Quote:
Edit: And one trick which could be done with Buoys could be using just buoys, without the mines... ![]() -RC- Last edited by Rosencrantz; 06-13-06 at 05:49 PM. |

In UK coastal waters swept channels were often very narrow, sometimes without enough room for a ship to turn around.
Is it not ironic that an attempt to lay mines should be thwarted by mines? ![]() |

I use GW and the only port there is Southend.A complete bugger to get in and a pain to get out.Unless I read this wrong on my map there's sod all after Southend it's not like You can sail up the estuary and take out London Docks ![]() |
