Default What's your favorite platform interface?

I was just remembering how much I loved the 688(I) interface that's remained consistent throughout all three of Sonalyst's subsims. Everything about it is perfect in my mind. Sure, it might look a little cartoony at first, but within 30 minutes of installing 688(I) I knew right away what every button did. The only thing I miss are those "are you really sure you want to do that?!" flip covers on the Fire buttons and the active sonar transmit button. I use to fiddle with those things during really tense moments.

The Seawolf interface still frustrates me. It's just too futuristic and cluttered for it's own good. All those drop-down menus in the sonar station, and that damn KONK! every time you click something...

Well I like the Kilo's interface since its simple and functional.

A very close 2nd is the OHP's interface. Lots of buttons to play with, very neat sonar systems and a high tech verson of the low tech angle solver from WWII.

Its interesting....when I purchased the game, I thought I would leave the aircraft alone, being a sub nut. But im loving that P-3....

I love the akula interface (except the color, they should use green), the just dose of retro-looking analogic displays

My second preferite unit is the frigate.
Lots of screens and buttons and weapons systems to play with.
As with the akula the only downside is the color

I first started out a helo and P-3 pilots but have found the fun in driving an FFG-7. I haven't been back to helos and P-3s yet.

I like very much the Akula interface but, in overall, the 688i is better looking... I don't know how to explain... more eye friendly, better colors.

Despite that, if the Akula would have a waterfall display...

I like the Seawolf interface, gives the impression to work with touch screen monitors and so somewhat high-tech looking.

688i all the way, modern but with the big buttons of slight retroness
Then probably the P3 or MH-60
Every time I get in the OHP someone either torpedoes or missiles me, so I've not quite got the hang of it yet

Akula, but not its sonar - its aesthetic but simply an inferior display type...

Seawolf for the high-tech feel. It just feels like what a 21st century submarine should be like.

In a tactical situation, when I have a lot going on and need to keep myself aware of what's going on with a minimum amount of effort and juggle my 12 sonar trackers between maneovers, I find the Russian sonar to be a much better sonar interface for the heat of the battle.

The waterfall is great for searching and localizing, but can quickly become a useless mess if there is a lot going on... and the Akula narrowband is MUCH easier to use than the Western bearing scan displays, especially when you have 100 things going on.

Plus, I really like the red color.

For myself, it is the 688(i) fast attack boat. I don't know what it is, perhaps I feel comfortable with it because of all the hours I spent in it in the original 688(i) Hunter Killer game. When I drive this platform in this sim, it is like driving an old reliable car where you know where everything is and what every sound is emanating from.

I also like the look of the panel stations, straightforward, nononsense and superbly functional. There is something about the green waterfall display in the sonar station that just does it for me. I can spend hours staring at that display...

Because green colour has calmative affect and red inteface makes people more disturbed and agrresive.I gues thats why most of Akula drivers that I know are so crazy in the game.

What about the seawolf then ?
If the us navy went for red-orange interfaces (frigate, seawolf) it must have some redeeming qualities over the green colored interfaces.

How do you beat crazy Akulas' crew? By making Seawolf crew mad, just by looking at bright colours of their screens!
