Does anyone remember Hostile Waters, and old tactical combat sim. It was a bit like Carrier Command in essence. You had a set of objectives, and had to harvest resources from scrap metal. Then, you turned them into units and equipped them with the souls of dead soldiers (really!) and weapons. From the command room on board the carrier, you could order them to do all the usual stuff like attacking and defending. The difference was, however, that you could take personal command of any unit and fight with it. It was narrated by Tom Baker, in case you were interested.
