XXI sooner?

I know this will freak realism buffs out, but I am interested in trying a campaign where I start in 1943 with a type XXI and see if I can make it to the very end (with 100% realism).

Does anyone know which file(s) to edit to get the XXI sooner than in the standard game?

You’re lucky to be given this U-Boat in 1944. In WW2 the first patrol set sail in 1945 very near the end of the war.

I spent alot of time getting that boat to work correctly, AND gettign it early. Eventually i got it to work perfectly in 1939... i kept thinking.. "XXI! Its the best, most awesome's uboat ever!"


Then after toying around with it, i decided that it using it removes too much of the game. After hours and hours of modding for it, i don't use it.

I don't know what it is but the XXI just does not appeal to me,Iv'e done 4 Careers so far and never got it in my present Career am in Jan 45 and am still sailing in my IXD2.

For me its because its more akin to a modern submarine then a WW2 submarine. You can play in an XXI, circumnavigate the atlantic and then some, and Not surface once the entire time.
