Default Can I load mu VIIB with only G7a type torpedoes

Hi. At the moment, my VIIB is loaded with three different types, G7a, G7e, and G7es. Is there anyway I can have all the tubes, reserves and externals all G7a?

Yes. In the uprades screen, select torpedoes, and DRAG the type you want to your tubes.

Cheers!

Hi, btw Im a new member so Hi everyone!

Go to the U-boat screen in the career menu between patrols, where you can add modifications, then click on torpedos, from here click on the torpedos around the diagram of the U boat at the top and double click on G7a and accept, repeat for all the torpedos you wish to change.

In the Configuration folder the basic cfg file has all the loads that you see when you check your torpedoes.
Each boat type for each year.
Below is the type VII in 1940 as I modified it so it has only the G7a fish. I have simply edited the different years to be how I would change them each time I started a mission and now do not have to.
I also increased the renown price of the FAT and Homi fish so I do not buy any but do included them in the manner they would have been.
What ever your preference you can change it to suit.
Make a copy of the basic cfg file before you edit so you have it in case of mistakes.

Thank you. However I am in June 1941 so how what changes should I make?

I made a mistake, it was June 1942 for my last patrol.

Did you choose the G7e over G7a? I'll see how it goes, I am being sent to AE87 again in July 21, 1942. I ran into a large convoy the last time I went that way and I had wished that I had all G7a then. Maybe I'll get a bow shot this time.

G7e's there really cool on fast merchants and fast DD's doing 20knts+ but if you fire one of them suckers on a DD thats got you in his site and zig zagging the torp will always miss on it's first pass because it goes for the prop sound or engine noise and then head for the loadest noise 99.9% the dd you fired on.and so it has to make up the ground.
Twice I fired one on a Fletcher class and a river escort and twice the dd hit my watch tower (wrecking it) then dropping it's dcs before the torp caught up with it and exploding above me.

A311, that has happened to me and once I was watching the DD hull in my peri at 1.5 and then saw the fish coming after him. Good thing I had dropped to 14 meters as it wissed a few feet away passed me and hit the DD very close to me.
It has also happened close enough where I have had serious damage but once it happened right on top of me and I was not damaged!
Not likely mate!

The suggestion regarding the 1940 file I made above was meant as a guide to any of them. You can modify all the boats and all the years to suit whatever you want. I simply got tired of making the change for every mission and edited the files to be like I would do it so don't have to bother with it.
Extra work now translates to all play later!!

So all I do is put TI for the first tube and the type of my boat and that's all I change and that will give me G7a's in all my tubes?

Homing torpedoes can work, but sometimes it's too late - I had two DDS on me so i fired a homing torpedo at one of them. It wasn't going to get there in time so I turned and ran at flank, PD (an XXI career so I could really lead him). The escort chased me and the homing torpedo chased him. It finally caught up with him and did him in - but not before he got off his last set of hedgehogs. Check out this one-in-a-million situation:

An the miracle - all the hedgehogs missed, sailing just past my boat.
