Default Weird Plane Behaviour

On a patrol at the moment in a 1XB in Jan 40

Had a message on the radio warning of slowish task force returning after the Graf Spee with the damaged Exeter ,well so much ASW in channel had to stay down till battery nearly down. No asw on scope so blow tanks only to find a couple of Swordfish ready to dive so thought would tough it out on surface and manned flak gun. Well first 2 were quite easy as they dived in then WO is shouting aircraft spotted every 2 secs and they were everywhere. But they only came in 2 at a time which wasnt to much trouble and not to close together either.Well in the end I shot down 32 Swordfish!!!! must say cant believe they just kept throwing themselves at me. Next start game will post pics of patrol log and will have to wait till i dock to see what damage they did as took a few hits inc one plane straight on the forward deck crew - oops . Last patrol i dont think I saw a plane at all now see 32 Swordfish all in a row

Strange

Aircraft in the stock game are an utter joke. They're more or less wet paper bags with wings that coudln't hit the broad side of a barn from 10 feet away.
On top of that being hit by one, isnt nowhere near as painful as it should be.

I'd recommend installing the "improved airpower" mod if theres one still floating around. Harbor traffic 1.47 comes with it in its own compressed file.

On the other hand, aircraft can be an excellent comedy relif on an otherwise boring patrol.

Default airmod

I would install other stuff but playing in the wolfpack campaign at the moment so can only use stock units. Was cool to watch though all those flames in the sea just thought it odd that was all

Well kudos to you Wooly!
But for me they're a nightmare. Can't tell you how much trouble they mean! :hmm:
I can't dive fast enough when my WO spots one!

If you really wanna have some fun with em, go out in biscay bay with an IX boat with an IX/3 conning tower, or a VII boat the uflak tower in 43 or 44. In either case make sure you have the 3.7 MM double twin.

It's like a game unto itself.

Yeah, for me the "sweet spot" is having one M42 heavy and the two twin light flaks. I found that the U-flak tower seemed to be more trouble than it's worth, although there's nothing to top it for airplane swatting.

those planes are a pain from mid 43 onwards I get the feeling they know exactly where you are in my last career which ended abruptly by planes June 44 encountered a large convoy got in the middle of and started fireing away, the escorts doing a frantic search for me called in the RAF and they where dropping the cargo's everywhere and eventually nailed me.
