Default Would this be possible Luft?

In SCX Thomas with a bit of fudging got SSBNs able to launch SLBMs.

He had two versions of each SSBN in the database, one with missiles one without.

Now with a better physics model that allows a ballistic trajectory would you be able to have SSBNs that can launch?

Although the map is only 600x600 it could add that little bit more urgency in hunting boomers if only for fun value.

I think it would be something worth looking at.

Well, I don't really see the big deal about the SLBM issue.

Sure, I can make a bigass missile go up at an angle an disappear at a really high altitude.

I can give the mission designers an easy way to trigger it to fire when they wanted to and not fire if they don't.

No problem.

But as far as the missiles being used on map to hit something. No, because I don't want to mod such things, it's definately outside the scope of DW, in my opinion

On the one hand I can seee your point but on the other if you have a scenario that is a boomer hunt there is no urgency, you can set a script that says game over but having the chance of an SLBM going off would IMHO make the player get a hop along finding the sub.

Also it is fun, c'mon Luft I know it is about realism but we can have fun too. SCX did it and I don't want to sound like I'm harping but SCX was considered THE mod for SC (well it was the only mod but besides the point.) The thing is if it was there it would be up to the mission designers discretion of when and how to use it. At least having it there gives the option.

The mission design community hasn't shown much interest in making dedicated LWAMI missions, so perhaps I can contemplate this in the future if circumstances change.

BTW, if anyone gives me models I'm not going to be able to make the time to do a separate database for stock players for the new models. The same goes for new non-playables.

All my time spent on DW has to be beta testing or working on LWAMI, since it is a luxury to have such time for me.

So if the modellers want their work to be used outside of LWAMI, someone else is going to have to do the database. Sorry.

I understand if this changes anyone's perspective on letting me use their models in LWAMI.

Cheers,
David

PS Part of my reason for saying this now, is that I realize that additions to the stock database will never be compatible with additions to LWAMI... so the whole reason for doing two databases, to keep missions compatible between stock and LWAMI, is out the window as soon as new platforms start to be added and utilized by the mission designers.

Luft only put new models in your mod.

It is too much to ask for you to make a stock DB with updated models.

People can do that themselves. The instructions are out there.

You are doing good work and LWAMI is the only realism mod about so I'd have thought most missions are for use with LWAMI.

Well, my understanding is that the current feeling is that missions should be designed with LWAMI in mind, but not to put anything in that wouldn't work with the stock game outright, even if the mission would play very poorly in stock 1.03.

That's not really something that I've understood up to this point, so I'd like to just get some kind of acknowledgement from the mission designers that they'll actually use what we make in an active manner.

Thanks for letting me off the hook on this one.

I seem to remember that for SC missions that were made specifically for SCX a warning came with it.

Usually this was a mission which made use of the new units that had been added. I think once you expand the navies to include types they have in RL but not yet in DW you'll see more LWAMI missions and an accompanying warning.

At the moment cos LWAMI uses the same number and type of units a mission made for LWAMI will work with stock DB even if how you find stuff will be different.

An SCX mission wouldn't work with SC stock...

So get the new units in and it'll be more LWAMI stuff. I think that is what helped make SCX so successful was because each navy had all the RL units included. Even if the models were not specific for some stuff.
