I am getting a message of a convoy in grid square 1253. Usually its referred as a letter coordinate like AN53 or something like that, but all messages have a 4 number like 1253 instead. How do I find where the convoy is? Thanks

...like modern grid in the American millitary it is a further break down of location..... "an4566" is more Acurate than "an46" for example.....

In GW when you get a grid location in that format, it is generally part of Irishred's cool radio messages mod.
Its an immersion thing... "REAL" radio contacts in game are labeled "To: your U-boat number," and will generally have a map contact pop up that will correspond accordingly. |

Everybody's missing his point. He knows how the grid system works, but wants to know why he got a reference to a grid with no letters, just numbers.

Those messages are just for immersion; you can't act on them. [edit] I said everybody missed the point. Upon rereading, I see that Kpt Lehman got it just fine. Sorry. |
