Hi all,
Here is the situation. I am at the end of a patrol and have no torps left. I have used my last three on a C3 cargo, and it's nearly dead, on fire and immobile. I have parked up next to it and now I am waiting for the weather to get better so I can use my gun on in to finish him off. Here is the question. If I stay in one place, and zoom forward in time a couple of days, will the weather even get better? s this a waste of time, or will the weather ever get better if I hang around long enough? I am on day four or five now and it's still terrible, and too rough to turn the cargo's hull into a sieve with my AP rounds.. What shall I do? Give up and go home, or stay a bit longer? |

Yes, the weather will change..... eventually. But it still may not change enough to use your deck gun. Might be sitting there for weeks waiting for the proper conditions. It's a tough call, that is why you're the captain of the boat.

Yes the weather does get better..
It can be a bit of a pain when you have a storm or bad weather that lasts for days or even longer. Though you will be grateful for bad weather later on... Early war you pray for good weather to make attacks easier. Late war you pray for bad weather so those bloody aircraft stay grounded ![]() |

![]() So watchout and keep your men ready for a crash-dive as soon as one unidentified signal is aproaching... 99% of the times its a plane... specially from 1944 not even a XXI snorkel is safe ![]() Of course in SH3 ![]() ![]() |

You could always change your subs config file so that you can use the deck gun no matter what the weather
![]() However you'll find that later in the war merchant and cargo ships are actually armed. Surfacing to finish them off with the deck gun can be a dangerous business. Also, one ship I hit blew up and was sinking. I surfaced to bring down some torps from the canisters and the ship started firing at me! A lone gun, half submerged was blasting away. I was so impressed I didn't shoot back ![]() |

A tip I got in this forum a while ago:
Always exhaust your deck gun ammo first of all! You never know when the weather is gonna change. I just save about 10 HE rounds, if I need to chase down an armed merchant surfaced.
