Obviously torpedoes... but I use deck gun for small merchants. And, sometimes, I use Flak to destroy all smaller targets, like fishing cutters and so on.

I prefer to use the deck gun when i can......

to save on torpedo's!

I like the first 3 torps,deck gun,and when I run out of ammo the flack gun.

My Preferences
Vanilla Install to 1.4b- I Prefer Deckgun
RUB 1.45 Mod - I Prefer Torpedoes
NYGM Tonage War Mod- I Prefer Torpedoes

Historical Record of Uboat Commanders
WW1- Seems like they preferred Deckguns
WW2 Early war- Seems like they preferred Deckguns
WW2 Late war - Seems like they preferred Torpedoes

Fish for me. There is nothing more rewarding than building that firing solution, firing tubes, nervously watching the clock till that calculated impact time, and hopefully witnessing that big bang and the carnage that follows.

Torpedoes.

In Destroyer Command, though, it was a real hoot to have four or five 5" guns slamming shells into some poor victim. Torpedoes were nice there, too.
