Hi all,
I have started a new career in the 29th flotilla. After a number of patrols to what I thought would be decent yield patrol zones, I have only seen one merchant ship (type:costal) and no war ships. I have attempted to penetrate Tobruk harbor. ran into the nets, but no mines (thank goodness). I fired on one C2, hit it and it sank, but I did not receive credit. I saw two DDs (V&W and Tribal) and an armed trawler. I have made contac t with no other ship, nor had any contact reports. I am running 1.4b+RUB1.45+HarborTraffice for RUB1.45 and SHIIICommander. Any tips would be appreciated and/or if there is a mod that is compatible with the above configuration that would increase the shipping to a more interesting level, please let me have your suggestions. I am also interested in the upcoming GreyWolves mod and I guess I need to start reading up on it to try and understand how it compares with the installation I now am using. Thanks, |

I've tried the 29th Flotilla a couple of times. It stunk. The only place that I've had any success was the choke point between Sicily and Tunisia.
If you want Mediterranean-like action, get stationed in France. Use SH3 Commander and set your patrol grid to CG94. I guarantee that you will run out of both torpedoes and deck gun ammunition within 5 days of your patrol. It's rare that I come back to port without racking up over 65,000 tons of merchant shipping sunk with my Type IXC.

Running with IUB and SH3Cmdr i´ve had about 15 patrols now in the Med and i`ve been just about everywhere but i have to say that 7 or 8 out of every 10 merchants i find usually are nothing more then the coastal merchant. Now, finding a C2 makes me actually happy but, offcourse i will sink any merchant i can find.
It became so bad i raid ports now more then i ever did before i hit the Med and i will even take a tangle with a DD for the fun of it. On average i will make somewhere between 40 to 46K in each patrol. I'm seriously considering transferring to the Atlantic again but maybe i might take a chunk out of the GW Mod as it's impact campaign wise seems very intresting.
