Default You have the power

Ok everyone we all have views on the Middle East so if you were given power to sort the mess out how would you do it? Peace talks or War.

First on your agenda, the Iraq situation.

just buld a very big wall, round all of it; not forgetting to make sure there is adequate plumbing for oil pipework

Failing that (but staying with the wall idea) I'd like to see a snake plisken type character, a la 'escape from new york' escape from iraq or maybe escape from the middle east...

Yes I would go with that one if anyone at the talks is taking the (you know what) lock them up and drum home the peace plan. The time of being crass is over this is the last real chance think about it make them listen talk tough and lay it on the line peace or war.

Let them fight it out. If they are fighting each other they are not fighting us.

Iraq....

Withdraw major peacekeeping operations to strictly defensive operations around bases...keep bases to a minimum (situated near oil fields preferably). Conduct air raids when necessary but in general let them sort their differences out...because there isn't a force on this planet that will unite them other than them themselves...and to try and help from the outside is just going to get us nowhere. If they want training from our forces, sure...but at the end of the day, it's up to them to patrol their streets...we'll sell them outdated weaponry if requested, but know that the weapons will most likely be used against us in the end we make sure that there's adequate defense against it.

Iran....

Let them develop their nuclear weapon, but warn them that any attempt at using it will result in every settlement being visited by a nuclear device, no matter how small. Ask them if they're willing to trade their entire country for one Israeli city...and let them know that should we even catch a whiff or even suspect for one second that they are giving nukes to terrorist organisations then their entire nuclear program will be dismantled by a team of B-52s, and most of their military force will be likewise dismantled by force.

Israel-Palestine.

Attempt to negociate a definative border zone and then carefully monitor it with all kinda equipment...warn each side that whoever transgresses the zone will lose land by force. If Palestine decides to blow a group of buses up, it'll lose a mile or two of land...and if it continues on a course of violence against its neighbour then it will gradually cease to exist. Likewise for Israel...although land decreases will have to be made according to relative size, since Israel is a bit bigger than Palestine.

I'd probably be destroyed by a terrorist bomb after two months...but that's one way of going about it I guess

Sad as it may be, talk proved cheap and preemptive is now the only way.

We simply can not allow any more countries, let alone one being lead by an utter madman, to develop nukes and make international institutions look a farce every time.

We can not allow these regimes to obtain real power and by that I primarily mean that once they'd obtained it we'd have to put up with their islamo-fascist crap every time because they'd have a power base...

Sixpack says 'No more' ! It's time to take the gloves off and kick some madman's ass again. Hitler got it, Sadman got it, Milosevic got it (all too late must I remind you !), now Irans president 'whatshisffingname' will get it.

So they like explosions, huh ? We WILL oblige...

Level the facilities ASAP! Send in the bombers ! And for us at home: TAPE IT !

Peace enforced at the point of the gun will not last in that part of the world (or maybe its the times). Remember what Mao said "win the hearts and minds". He was able to create unity with those cockamammy communist ideas imagine what we can do if we can only bring together the Muslim and Western viewpoints. Granted some problems only have 9mm (I prefer .40) answer. Thats when you go b@lls to the wall and KATN. Happy people dont create revolution.

PS - Please forgive me if this seems incoherent. I have a bit of a migraine and haven't slept - It's 0500L

No, it is not.

Because that solution is way passed.

'We' have created a mess by opening pandora's box and producing thousands and thousands of Jihadists.

So we owe it to the good average people over there to clean it up (in this age of reason ) before we leave.

Mind you that B4 'shock and awe' I have always said: Leave it to those people. Our nations have gone through revolution and civil unrest in order to get to we are. Let them get rid of dictators themselves, if they dont like
'em.

'But what about the Third Reich ?' You then reply. We in W-Europe needed help from outside, didnt we ? Yes, we did, but it came largely from a western power made up of former Europeans (USA/Canada).

The cowardous League of Arab nations should have done the job in Iraq and A-stan, not the West !!

Plus I think Hitler would not have stayed in power for many decades, anyway. Europe's history is filled with revolutions so some kind of order would have been restored. Maybe even a better order than the current EU mess with its major immigration issues and multicultural problems

Training police forces over in Iraq and Afghanistan is a good thing to do and it's the only viable option forward to a more of less stable situation eventually. It will take a HELL of a time tho' and possibly USA will go Vietnam on them in a few years like I also predicted before S&A.

But FG'sS protect these people who apply for police and army jobs.

Bush has thrown the dice, basically because the UN is impotent (because it's a divided world we live in ) and because he personally is a cultural nitwit and doesn't understand one percent of the old middle eastern ways.

If we want a peaceful future for East and West the cultures have to somehow become less conflicting. Not just empty words will be needed. No, we need dialogue with compromises and as we are the ones who will be on the giving side, we wont like them !

So, it's not simply a matter of them adjusting to us. To obtain peace, it's quite the contrary as a matter of fact.

Have a nice day

Funny thing about Mao. He did say to win their hearts and minds but did more winning with the bullet than anything else...
