Default Fog Horns?

Would it not be possible for a modder to find a way to add Fog Horns for ships out at sea during stormy or foggy weather. The sound of them adds a creepy atmosphere to the game. I think during WWII even war ships would use them regardless of the U-boats since there was more chance of being in a ship on ship collision than being torpedoed by a U-boat. Besides if a a U-boat could hear your Fog Horn, most likely he could hear your props using the hydrophone. I know fog horns are blown when leaving port, but I wonder if they can't be implemented to surface ships once the weather gets severe?

would be cool to add to the lighthouse if there are sounds attached to it...or in that area near harbor....the only sounds that can be modded are those that already exist....we tried adding sounds to dolphin objects that were unlocked...but, we have had no luck with it....they are called within the executible...so, it can only be added by the source code...before it is compiled. is there a sound attached to foggy weather? what sounds happen when there is fog? that is probably where you want to look first....otherwise you will have the sound during clear weather as well if you edit it to something else....liek the dock noises for instance....I always though bouy bells would be cool near harbor or land....like when you start hearing seagulls....

Where is the fog horn sounded from when leaving port? Is that attached to a land based object or an escorting DD or yard tug?

What are the different ship siren sounds for? do they ever activate in game? or are they just more unfinished files in the install?

What about renaming some of the ship sirens to replace a few of the seagull sounds so when on the bridge near a port you hear seagulls and some ship sirens.

that would be cool...does anyone know what the sirens or for? or when they are used? there are 4 of the sound files: ShipSiren_01.wav, ShipSiren_02.wav, ShipSiren_03.wav, ShipSiren_04.wav. I always thought they should use them repeatively for when a ship is sinking or during a fire as an emergency callout....or if you were detected in a convoy to warn other ships to take evasive manuevers....it would really add to the emersion and make the AI seem more intelligent..

Someone mentioned buoys. Reminds me that we need some non-vehicle objects for the oceans, especially near the coasts: bell buoys, mooring buoys, and maybe some oil derricks for the Caribbean and the Gulf.

yeah seaworld has it in there harbor exhibit....they always have background environmental effects emanating out of the speakers in the bushes....maybe we can find a similar track and jsut add it to the seagull sounds
