I'm currently using the damage enhancement in the RUB 1.45 mod...I noticed you get really nice damage holes with the torpedo impacts but, when I use my deckgun on ships I don't get any damage marks on the hulls. Is this normal? is there a fix for it if it isn't? I'd like to see where my shots are hitting so I can get better at gunning.

This works well both with torpedoes and deckgun for damage textures. I have it as one of my top mods must-have.

excellent! thanks, I will have to try this stuff out and see if it fixes it. I could have sworn this was part of RUB 1.45 I get really nice torpedo hits just never see deck gun damage. But, fom the screens this looks like its what I need.
I take it: Damage_metal_a.tga is for deck gun and Expl_mask01_a.tga is for torpedo damage. Is that correct? |

I've tried trying each of them with jsgme and still not getting holes from deckgun...i get them from torpedos but not the gun. Any ideas why? This is what my ships look like after pounding them with about 20 shells....I fired a mixture of 10 AP and HE into surface deck areas and the same under waterline.....as you can see there isn't any damage other then a fire from one of the HE rounds. Could this be an nvidia problem? or maybe a level of detail configuration?

Here's 2 pics from using Better_Damage_Texture_V2.rar. Shots were a few HE from the deck-gun. The marks aren't that dark, but at least show something. It looks better on different ships too.
![]() ![]() I have ATI video now but this mod worked fine with an Nvidia FX5900 too. Pretty sure 'damage_metal_a.tga' file is for deckgun damage.

Wow....yeah I didn't get that when I installed and the texture is there I manually checked it. I wonder if it is my nvidia. Im using a 5200. Its old but, works fine with latest drivers. I know my smoke is white sometimes you have to look at sun and press something to see black smoke again. Maybe its something weird like that. But, as far as seeing those kind of textures Im not getting them. That is really strange.

Btw, sometimes Sh3 would revert back to white-smoke using these drivers. To get black smoke again, first I had to pause the game, press 'ALT-ESC' to the desktop, then back into SH3 again. Then black smoke worked again. With these drivers I think the smoke goes white every dawn/dusk, not sure though. Might give them a try. The driver filename for the 61.77's is: 61.77_win2kxp_english.exe
