Default Little Black Squares Next To Crew Members

Greetings!

Please excuse my ignorance, I'm new to this submarining thang, but when i was clicking to check out the crew status i noticed all of the crew member icons onboard my sub had small black squares next to them in the upper right corner. Are they mutineers? Cuz nobody wanted to do nothing and I sunk to the bottom and...nothing.

I hear that fatigue is symbolized by a red exclamation mark but I haven't seen one of them yet.

Thanks!
Jeff

The RUb mod changed the fatigue icons to little black rectangles. So you must have either the RUb or IUb mod (contains RUb) installed.

That means that they all need rest. fill up the crew quarters and wait till they come around.

I believe that the same mod (RUB) that changes the red exclamation points to little black rectangles also changes the fatigue model so that crew do not regain strength or reduce fatigue by "resting" them in the crew quarters (doing that will keep them from draining further, but will not make them recover) - so, basically, if your whole crew is fatigued at this point your best bet may be to limp home to port and start a new patrol (and pay more attention to your crew management next time out, or else maybe use SH3 Commander to change the fatigue model back to the stock one where resting will work again)

OK that explains it. I knew that the Rub mod changed the question mark to a black square but I couldn't figure out why resting my crew members didn't allow them to regain their energy levels. As you have suggested I found that I would have to cut short my patrol and return to base for them to regain energy.

You can still manage your ship, even at heavy fatigue levels. You will have to manually manage your crew.

Fear not! The way RUb works is that your crew fatigues less and less with the more patrols and experience you gain during your career.

I had a horrible time managing my crew in the first 2 patrols of my current Career. However the last 3 patrols have been much better. Compartment efficiency will still dwindle but not to the extremes they went to at the start of my career.

Default Crew Management

Is there any way to keep the RUb crew management fatigue concept while allowing the fatiqued crew to regain some strength when put into crew quaters?

SH3 Commander has a crapload of options regarding Fatigue Models which allow you to use RuB or IuB but to modify the fatigue models at a whim. Just don't change them mid-patrol.

Thanks, I'll try that. I don't want to do away with crew management entirely, just want them to gain from a couple of hours in qtrs.
