My patrol grid for the third consecutive patrol is listed as "NULL". I'm assuming this means I can do as I please, or is it some glitch, or waiting for me to do something that I'm missing? Anybody know? Thanks!

Look at your briefing under mission objectives, it probably says starting base: XXX, then return to base: XXX. basically this means you need to transfer bases, it says Null under grid patrol because all you need to do is head to the "return to base" and dock there.

Hmm, I transferred to base Brest a couple of patrols ago, and for the last couple of patrols since then, it just says Starting base: Brest, and return base: Brest, with patrol grid "NULL".

I get this "Null" grid to patrol in August 1940 when I transfer to a French Base.I only get this for one patrol.

If you use a Resupply Ship it will also say "Null" until you return to your home port. Next patrol should be fine and show a Grid.

Third mission after transfer, and still "Patrol Grid: NULL" Well, I finally figured it out. I was going out on the NULL missions and running a full patrol of my choosing, racking up tonnage etc. So finally I tried starting a mission and immediately ending the mission and docking and on the very next mission, I got a real patrol grid assignment. I guess when you transfer bases you have to just go to the base and dock, no messing around with kills or anything, whereas before I wouldn't return to base and dock until I had used up all my torpedoes and everything like a real mission.

I just had the "null" thing too. I got a message that my base was changed from Kiel to St. Nazaire. I was already headed back to Kiel and turned around. Ran into real problems with the enemy and decided to turn around again and keep going to Kiel. Once there, my next mission was "null" and showed St. Nazaire as my end base. So I just 'toured' from Kiel to St. Nazaire and my next mission after that was normal.
