Ok, this really urks me. I recently found this seemingly really good method of intercepting targets on the Wiki page. It is called Claren's Easy course to intercept plotting method.
Now, what annoys me, is the first time I used it, it worked too perfectly. My ship hit the other ships. Now, when I try to use it I get no intercept. The target ends up miles away from the intercept point. Has anyone else encountered this, or is it just me. Anybody have a better method to intercept? |

Well, One thing about that method is it can be very accurate which is good for intercepting targets but not so good for putting yourself in a good attack position. The other is that the farther you are away the more inaccurate it becomes. I have started using it myself quite a bit and found to be quite usefull. However, I only use it long enough to get in range to get a good sound fix. Then I use other tactics to put me attack postion.
One other thing to note is ships and convoys tend to change course from time to time. |

![]() ![]() Sorry to dissapoint guys, but the method doesn't work... If you been getting good results with it it has been because of sheer luck (inner angles of most triangles tend to be very similar for the most part) This is in no way intended as a criticism to the method, since the principle presented in it is sound, except that there is one dislexic error in the explanation that causes the incorrect results. EDITED BY AUTHOR!! My God, that explanation was awfull, the guy on the next post is correct in not liking how it was ![]() I corrected it and have now created a new thread. Please visit it, I think you'll find it VERY USEFULL http://www.subsim.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=47980 |
