Problem with formations?

I don't know if I've run into a bug, or just something I'm not doing correctly. I'm building a mission that will include a convoy of cargo ships. If I give each ship an individual tactic things work OK, just have to make sure to adjust each waypoint individually.

I ran into a problem when I tried to add a custom formation. I selected one of the ships, created the formation. Then added the others to it. Now, if I load the mission, the game crashes before the mission loads.

Any ideas?
