Default No Uninstall For Sh3 Commander 2.3?

Hi, I am trying to install the 2.4 version over the 2.3 that I have been using for about a month or so. I have d/l the 2.4 version and have performed a rollback and exited commander, then navigated to sh3 commander folder and there is no uninstall file. Not showing up in the add remove programs either. How can I safely remove the old version before install of the new one?

I am mid patrol, using xp home with sp2, have backed up sh3 commander ini file also

love the game mods, thanks for your hard work

Actually, I would have suggested saving in base rather than mid-patrol first, but...

SHIII commander does not install any registry entries or such, so far as I am aware. You can simply delete the Commander folder from your hard drive, and install it again. This is what I've done with 2.3=>2.4, and it worked without trouble so far.

*you may want to be careful if you had any additional mods for SHIII commander, which you should back up first.

Here's an interesting problem.....

there is no SHIII Commander file in my C:/Program Files that I can find. It's not in SHIII main folder either, nor My Documents..... but SHIII Com 2.3 runs fine.

"Where oh where are you tonight? Why did you leave me here all alone?" Honest to God, I cannot find it anywhere. I'm stumped.

Now, once I'm in port again, can I install SHIII Commander 2.4 over 2.3 without problems?

You can use the search function. Just look around in program files or your harddrive(s).

Tip: Next time, don't just install things willy-nilly... Remember where you put them.

Just right click your desktop icon of your sh3 commander and click on properties, it will tell you where it is right under the target location, if i remember right

Hi, I deleted the files manually and the install of 2.4 went well. I also backed up my ini file then reinstalled it in the new sh3 commander folder. Checked out my patrol and everything was ok. thanks for the help

If you installed the 7z version, there will be no uninstall option in "Add/Remove programs". The uninstall option only appears for users that install the exe file version.

@CCIP: Correct, SH3Cmdr does not write to the registry (I hate when mess is left behind!). The exe installation routine, however, saves the usual uninstall details, but these are removed upon uninstallation.

@GT182: Search in Windows Explorer for "SH3Cmdr.exe". Alternatively, if you installed r2.3 via the exe file, run the r2.4 exe file and it will default to, and display, the previous installation path. Exit at that point. Or, simply follow phatmatt's instructions.

Thanks Phatmatt, your advice worked. It's been found and all is ok. It was in C:/program files not Program Files where I thought it should be. I've not made any program go to program files as I've never had that folder section before.

And thanks to you too Jaeson. SHIII Com 2.4 is running fine and where it should be.

BTW, I forgot to add this.

The only way I found SHIII Com 2.3 was by "Find Target" from Properties. If I looked in SHIII main folder or the mods folder it didn't show up at all.
