Not sure if this has been brought up yet but I notice that at least once or twice in a patrol I get a really loud and annoying sound when something happens...it sounds like constant static and overrides all the other sounds in the game.
I have a SB live value, Athlon 1.4 Ghz, 1024 RAM, Radeon 9550 256. I also downloaded the game from Direct2Drive if that makes any difference Any help would be great Thanks Mike Holmes (U-109)

Most likely an audio hardware acceleration issue.
start DXDIAG (start->Run) and switch off the "hardware acceleration for sound". Also, check here: http://www.subsim.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=35180 |

Throw your ancient SB Live away and get any minimally decent recent audio adapter. SB Live's are bug infested - especially in today's newer hardware/os configurations.
