Default New Ship Mods - List them here.

Since the cloning and modelling tools are rapidly becoming widely used, a lot of new ship mods will soon be available to add to the game. Since any newly added ship needs a listing in the EnglishNames.cfg and GermanNames.cfg files (if the listing is missing it can cause game crashes) it might be a good idea to have a database of ship mods on the forum so that modmakers and mod users can avoid (as much as possible) any conflicts due to mods overwriting the aforementioned files.

So if anyone knows of a ship mod (meaning a new 3D model - not just a skin), please list it here, along with details of where to get it. I think it will make it that much easier to avoid problems.

----------------------------------

I'll try to keep this list updated with as many links as I can find.

Beery, you mean this as a database for development purposes, or I should keep adding the download links to the mod list?

This is just an effort to avoid mod conflicts, so it's just so that users and modders know what mods to be aware of. So you'll want to keep adding them to the mod list for the modders.

I wish I had time to seek out all the new ship mods, because I see potentially large problems due to conflicting EnglishNames.cfg files. I believe if a name is missing from the file it can cause crashes, and if a player installs a new ship mod on top of another one it will delete the first mod's listing in EnglishNames.cfg. If that happens, anytime the game generates a ship from the first mod, the game will crash.

Could you post a link, because I can't see anything like it on any of the German forums or SH3 sites that I frequent?

I believe the author is redeveloping that. I think it was commander1980? Yes, I think it was. He wanted to do a Karlsruhe class based on the Southampton. But that was a while back.

u-boot.realsimulation.com has a collection of new units in its "skins" section, btw. Might want to check it out.

Another I remember is that someone made the H8K 'Emily' Search Plane - Japanese. Basically a reskin of the Sunderland.

I found the Karlsruhe (the German Light Cruiser) on U-boot.Realsimulation.com. Unfortunately it's just the Southampton Light Cruiser renamed as the Karlsruhe and with different armament. I'm not sure why Commander 1980 didn't issue it as a separate ship (possibly he was just starting out on adding ships at the time), but maybe he'll work on that so that it can be used with the Southampton mod, rather than instead of it.

Hi Beery!
The Karlsruhe needs a lot of work that she looks more like the real Kalrsruhe. I have decided not to release her again as a simple copy of the Southampton. Currently i have no time for that, because i am doing my examination. In about two weeks i will complete the much easier Mahan-class destroyer and then i will continue the Karlsruhe. The karlsruhe-model was nearly ready, but the importing didn't work properly. I hope, that the new pack3d will solve the problems.

There will also come a new version of the Flottenbegleiter, with the second funnel standing higher and other small corrections.

Good idea with that thread.
