I thought I'd start a thread on this, too.
Should MOB be implemented in the game, so that, for example, in heavy storm there was a chance of a crew member falling over board and be in need of rescue? It wouldn't have to be that hard to pick him up, just drive your sub over to him (and, I guess, he'd be able to swim towards you, too). There doesn't even have to be a "climb back aboard sub"-animation for all I care if the amount of animations are on the same level as Silent hunter III's (which, as we all know, had pretty few animations - no death animation, for example). You could add a Watch Officer report called "Report on MOB", which told you something like "Extra-vehicular at bearing 093, range 32 metres" (OK, range shouldn't be that exact in SHIV, unless you're playing at a high realism level, but you get my point). Time in the water, especially in cold water, generates lots of fatigues and might give the crewman an illness, if they're implemented. If you wait for too long with picking the guy up, or if you run him down, he drowns.
