Default SHIII moding

I have been playing SHIII now for a few months, resently finding this board. I read alot about moding and I have a couple of questions

1 How easy is it to Mod?
2 Do I need special tools to use a Mod?
3 What Mod enhance the game, but not ruin the WW2 feel of the game?

Thanks in advance

It depends on what your skill-sets are, and what you want to mod...

Are you a graphics person?
Are you a sound person?
Are you a gameplay modifier?
Do you know what hex code is?
Can you hex edit?
Have you ever modded in the past?
Are you good with understanding files and how SH3 works?
Do you think you can learn? <== Most important of all
How much of your life can you devote? (silly question, but modders know exactly what I'm talking about )

Any questions?

Well, depending on what you want to mod, there are plenty of tools available, and for FREE I might add!

Most mods enhance SH3, without ruining the WW2 feel of the game. I think our community is mostly comprised of people who enjoy realism... Or detest arcadism, however you want to view it.

Me? I enjoy realism to a certain point, but more often than not I can sway it in favor of increased game playability.

Ok, to answer your questions,
I like graphics and sound.
I do not know Hex coding, but could learn
I have installed mods in the past, but not created one.

That is what I looking for now is to install some of the mods I have heard of.

Is this difficult, or just file replacment?
As I go through I may try to create one in the future

If you're worried about making changes to your game with existing mods...

Get something called JGSME (JoneSoft Generic Mod Enabler), it should be available on any SHIII mod site (like u-boot.realsimulation.com).

It's an excellent little program which allows you to select which mods to apply to the game and in what order, AND it automatically makes backups for you.

Strongly recommended
