U S frigate fires on scottish merchant vessel.

I read this in a scottish newspaper today,apparently a US frigate fired warning shots at a scottish merchant ship during an excersise.Has anyone else heard of this?

been nothing mentioned on the bbc, if it did happen i doubt the scots took it too well not the calmest of people.

scottish fisherman have been known to ram ships who get in their way, especially if those are spanish fisherman stealing their stock.

the scots dont really think things through, i blame the cold wether.

scots rammed a leander frigate once because the scots had the hump with it not to mention russians icelantics norwiegen swedish french spanish russian shall i continue?

american frigate with a reinforced whaler bow that can cut threw the ice the american ship would have a hole in it by the morning

failing that the scots who are aggitated people by nature (my nan is scotish) they would come up with a way to get them back

Yeah I saw something briefly on a newspaper I was looking at this morning...but couldn't see anything of detail as I was just passing by.

that or they will load thier boats and blockade some american ports as they did in zeebrugge even the belgian navy couldnt shift them they gats more balls than a tennis club

US frigate's terrifying ultimatum to Scots skipper one mile off Rhum

AN American warship fired four warning shots across the bow of a tiny Scots cargo boat - just a mile off the coast of Rhum.

The USS Klakring radioed Greig Milligan - skipper of the tiny Spanish John II - with a chilling ultimatum: "Move away from the safety zone or we will open fire."

The 41-year-old then heard four explosions and saw four flashes of light - two red and two white.

He said: "I was terrified they would think that we were some kind of suicide bomber.

"I tried to contact the ship over the radio but I'm quite new to the sea and I was on the VHF channel. I was worried I had got the wrong channel."

Last night, MoD chiefs confirmed the 4100-tonne frigate had been on a Nato exercise - codenamed Neptune Warrior - with a Dutch vessel but insisted it was NOT authorised to fire live missiles. They also say Greig may have misinterpreted warnings given as part of the exercise.
