Default Back after long hiatus...comments and questions

So, I took a break from SH3 for a bit whilst playing other games. Started gettting the itch again and now Im back. After extensive research I settled on using the latest version of IUB and SH3 commander. Love those mods. You guys did some great work there.

One thing Im having a bit of a problem with is it being so dark at night. I installed the LIGHT NIGHT mod and that helped a bit. However, it is still to dark for me to set up firing solutions. I have to make my WO, Vlad, do that for me. I tell ya, that guys ability to see in the dark is just uncanny. Only problem is I have to keep him bleow decks during the day time. Seems he has some kind of allergy to the sun. Anyone got any other suggestions for this?

Second comment. I know that using IUB puts in enemy mines and sub nets. Are there any the area of the English Channel. I was on my first patrol in Jan 1940 and decided to have a go at the channel. Was running at night on 1024x time compression when suddenly, BLAM!!! 6 crewmen dead, electric engines destroyed, fuel tanks ruptured. I didnt hit any other ships and never got any warnings about aircraft. Im assuming I struck a mine.

Anyway, Its nice to be back. Forgot how much I enjoy this sim.
