I am having anoying graphic glitches from my upgrade from nVidia to ATI.
Look here..... ![]() This glitches appears when the GPU temperature reach 68/70 Celcius degrees. I am using a X800-XT PE 256Mb. It happens with any actualized ATI drivers along the time i have this card, 5.7 to 5.11..... I try only the small version drivers, those which do not require the Microsoft Frame Work to be instaled ( ATI Control Panel instead ATI Control Center) Only one time i tried those drivers who use ATI Control Center, and install Miscrosoft frame Works, and game crashes, and i was having some extrange sevice running at back ground and attempting to connect to internet detected by my Firewall. Glitches go off, when i go out to desk top, then i monitoring the GPU temperature, when it drop down to 60 reenter the game and problem solved by few minutes. These glitches DO NOT APPEARS at any other game at same GPU temperature !! :hmm: It is too much 70 degree of GPU temperature ? Is it abnormal ? Any user of ATI, any model, or any user of X800 series had this similar problem ? I had buyed an Artic Cooling Silencer 4 Revision 2 now to attempt to maintain my GPU more cool........not teste yet, because i do not know if i loss the ATI warranty if i install it. Any way, ATI has no representation in my country, to change it may be not posible. Any personal experience with this glitches ? Any help will be welcome, i am really tired with this glitches ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

70 degrees is a way too high, IMO! My temps keep on 34-38, but then again I have 2 fans blowing warm air out and 1 blowing cool in. I have a X600 series card with no fan, and it keeps under 45 degrees always...

Hello Redwine
I have the same card as you and never experienced this kind of problem. I dont think this is a matter of wrong drivers. Im not so sure that 70 degrees is to hot either. This is a powerful card and it easily get warm. I'll check out my temperature during gameplay and will come back with the temperature I have. The other thing is if you have attached the card properly in the socket on your mother board? Even the slightest misconnection can cause strange glitches. Try to make sure it's proper mounted in the socket of your motherboard. Is this an PCI express card? Then if heat is the problem, make sure there is a empty room next to your grafic card. Will be better for cooloing your card. I'll return with temperaturetest ![]() |

70 degrees are normal temperatures with these cards on air cooling at load!
i advise you to clean driver rests of the nvidia card. 1.deinstall the ati driver 2. start in safe mode 3. use driver cleaner to erase first all Nvidia driver rests and second all ATI driver rests. 4. restart system and reinstall the newest Catalyst with CONTROL PANEL |

Try what HanSolo said. If that doesn´t help download the Omegadriver (http://www.omegadrivers.net). With it comes the fantastic "ATI Tray Tools", it has some features that could either solve the problem or at least work around it. Right-click the ATT icon in the toolbar, go to Hardware/Overclocking Settings. In the lower part you see the GPU temperature. Click "Show 3D Renderer" and check if the card has the same problems when it reaches 70°C. If that´s the case you can do two things. Either underclock the card so that it never reaches 70°C or use the Fan control (click the Fan tab) to raise the Fan speed. The best is to use a combination of underclocking and a high GPU fan speed. The first thing you should do is to lower the memory speed by 50%, then run the 3D test again. If it works at 70°C you know that the memory most likely is the problem. If it doesn´t work set the default memory speed and lower the core speed by 50%. Then try the test again. Use 80-90% fan speed for every test. Try again and again until you find a setting that works. BTW, is your PSU powerful enough (400-450w)? Does this problem also appear in other games? |

I am user of a Enermax MaxFlow CS-718B, it is a BTX format, motherboard is in the oposit side of the case. CPU is on botton of the cas at floor, and it and the memories are enclosed into a wind tunnel, with 2 high speed 4000 RPM 12cm fans, one at each end of the tunnel. http://www.bigbruin.com/reviews05/ma...dex.php?file=1 The most higher font of Heat, CPU and Memories are away, isolated from the remains components. http://www.bigbruin.com/reviews05/ma...file=pic20.jpg http://www.bigbruin.com/reviews05/ma...file=pic24.jpg Plus i have another high speed 4800 RPM, high power 8.4 Watts, 0.7 Amp fan in the front pushing fresh air directly over the ATI card fan. Plus i made a hole in the back of the case and put another high speed 4000 RPM, high power 5.76W fan taking air form inside. Here under the Power supply ..... http://www.bigbruin.com/reviews05/ma...file=pic10.jpg Plus i have 2 more 92 mm fans at the Power supply taking sir from inside to outside. Conclusion 6 case's fans. Plus ATI fan, plus CPU fan. I think so it is not lack of airflow problem. Anyway i think as you and made tests removing the lateral wall of the case and running the computer with the case open, and the same problem is present. Quote:
Thanks Rulle, i do not note any fasle contact but i wll give atemption to this fact you mentioned. About the clear room, well, we have hot days here in spring, they looks more as summer days instead spring days. In fresh days i have not this problem, due to this fact i go to check GPU and CPU temperatures, and buy a Artic Cooling Silencer 4 Revision 2, not tested yet. I was thinking in to buy a Thermalright XP-90C too, i have the Intel default cooler now. Both coolers are periodically cleaned, no dust or fluff present, cooler surface are clean. Please check your temperatures and tell me, remember ambient temperature too, please. Quote:
Yes, i soupose these temperatures are normal, considering the X800 XT PE is a default overclocked card, it is a X800 XT wich was tested at factory and due to its chip good quality it was set at higher memory and chip frecuencies from factory.......... but may be ATI made a misteke with my chip :hmm: No rest of older nVidia drivers on my computer. I put ATI drivers from 5.7 up to 5.11 on a clear formated hard disk. |

Thanks a lot for help Gizzmoe.... My Power Supply is Thermaltake Silent Power of "true" 480watts, it is souposed this power correspond to a constant 0.7 of the voltage wave, not the peak, on peak it can supply more power. About Omega Drivers, each time i attempt to use them, my computer crashes or game crashes, doesnt works for me...... Same with ADN drivers, may be they need to have Microsoft Frame Works installed ? I understand....... those setting and control you mentioned are into Omega drivers ? About other games, my kind burns the computer with Unreal Gold, Unreal Tournament, y play IL2 saga, FB, AEP, PF and the problem is not present at any moment even in hot days or after play long missions at full setings. |

I never had to use Driver Cleaner, so I can´t give you any details on how to use it. It seems that you just install it, then run it once so that it can download some updates. After you have removed all ATI and nVidia driver traces with DC reboot Windows, then try the Omega driver again. Leave all options at their default settings (Fastwrites=off). |

Removing any part of any other driver will cure many glitches.
Before the driver cleaner put in the Nvidea CD and remove (uninstal) the drivers from there. Then put in the ATI CD and remove their drivers, then Driver Clean and then install the latest drivers. I had trouble with 5.8, 5.9 and 5.10 from DLed drivers. My X800 came with the 5.8 ATI-CD and those loaded perfectly. As for temps, I have a Sapphire X800GTO 256MB and it ran 75C stock and now 78C (OC at 525/1100MHZ) under load. I run SH3 very nicely with no problems at all. Wulfmann

I have a X800XT PE with Artic Cooler and my card is really working to reach 55* C. The Artic Cooler keeps your card about 15* C cooler than regular X800 XT PE cards and prevents a lot of small glitches that some hot cards experiance. |

Hello Redwine
I feel sorry for your trouble. Checked my temperature on a quite heavy modded SH 3 and it's running in 80 degrees in harbour where grafics work quite hard as I have visibility and HT mod enabled. About that "clear room" thing, I meant if it was enough space between your gfx card and the next one. Sometimes it can be advisable to have a empty slot there to have some more space for cooling. But cooling is not your problem as I can see. All I know, and much moore, how to solve this is mensioned above. Must be some conflict with some drivers. Just hope your problem will be solved at last ![]() |
