Default A Periscope by Any Other Name is Still a Periscope?

Ok bubbleheads... what's the difference between an attack periscope, a navigation periscope, and a multi-purpose periscope? :hmm:

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Note: this is not a mod-related question, so don't ask if we can put different types of periscopes in DW, because we can't.

The attack periscope is smaller, has a lower radar cross section, less light gathering power (important in the days before photomultiplier tubes and thermal vision), and has a less powerful set of optics than the "search" or "navigation" periscope. A multipurpose periscope is able to do the job of both.

In SHIII, both periscopes are modelled. The difference can be experienced...

Personally I call it "the thing for looking the outside world".

Despite the name, the "attack periscope" is not usefull for sinking ships. All the times I tried to sink a ship with the "attack periscope" had the result of the loss of the scope and no damage to the ship... :hmm:
