Is there a way to manually enter data into the notepad? I have a heck of a time getting proper speed estimates using the notepad stopwatch. Meanwhile, since I've been shadowing the target for awhile I have a pretty good idea what his speed is, I just can't get the notepad to agree.
I know that the TDC has a manual mode. Is it possible to use manual TDC together with the notepad? Do people just say to heck with it and just use the TDC? If the TDC is used in manual mode does it remain slaved to the periscope? If speed is manually entered in the TDC and the notepad entry for speed remains blank, does the TDC data get used? (Apparently not since I tried this and the gyro angle was consistent with speed of 0). Thanks all. |

Unfortunately, there isn't a way to manually enter speed into the notepad. Fortunately, it is easy to manually input the speed into the TDC and then switch the TDC back to automatic mode, thus connecting it to the periscope again so that AOB and bearing are automatically updated as you rotate the scope. Once speed is input to the TDC, it will stay like you put it. Only time it will change again is if, like you said, the speed part of the notepad has a speed written down on it and you hit the "main" checkmark of the notepad.
