Default Air-to-air combat in SH3

This has been discussed before, but does SH3 simulate air-to-air combat? I ask because I recall one post that said planes only interacted with naval units, as well as another that told of an air battle between Hurricanes and German bombers. Was this last post correct, or did the author perhaps actually see the bombers and fighters colliding?

Enemy planes do fire at each other with their turrets.

Check out the Malta single mission, a Sunderland turns up and if you follow it with an external cam it should fire at any ju88's or stukas flying around.

iambecomelife,

does this mean you are thinking about making airplanes?? Lets get rid of that hurricane, but first we need some replacements. How about resizing the avenger so that we can have a wildcat/martlet? That seems very possible... Some minor modifications would have to be made, but doesn't it look possible?

EDIT: nvm

ATM the only aircraft I'm working on is the CAMship-mounted Hurricane. It's mounted on deck but poorly textured. If I manage to get it to work I'll have the cargo ship spawn a Hurricane airgroup; unfortunately, I can't think of a way to stop the spawning (as the fighters could only be used once).

QUESTION: does aircraft spawning actually work? I even have the seaplane mod, but have yet to see any seaplanes in the single missions with battleships. Do carriers even spawn airplanes?

***don't confuse spawned airplanes with airplanes that are scripted by the mission.

Yes, it works. I ran a custom mission with a Malta-bound convoy that included a British carrier. After several ships were sunk the carrier launched Swordfish to defend the merchants. However, aircraft seem to materialize in midair; there are most likely no actual takeoffs/landings.

At this moment, I'm not that picky...
