Default Any chances of a VIIB torpedo door fix and VIIC rail fix?

Hey all!

I noticed the cables got fixed (GREAT!) on the VIIC and that the mod community seem to really be "taking care of business". I was wondering if it would be possible to fix the torpedo doors on the VIIB?

If you look at them in-game, there is a noticable gap around them, i.e., it almost looks as if the torpedo doors are too small for the cut-outs.

Any chance of somebody fixing this little issue as well?

Also, the rails of the VIIC seem to be incorrect (as many of you already know). ANy fixes for this in the pipeline?

Thx, modders, and keep up the great work. Without you, SHIII (as well as SHII) would have passed long ago, IMO.

Thx for posting the pic, Fubar.

Sorry for not responding, Flak. I was at my brother's wedding out of state for the past 4 days.

I may receive a lot of flak for saying this, but I'm gonna' go ahead and say it anyways:

Is the railing fix THAT important??? I mean, c'mon... I have no idea how the railings looked in 1939, let alone 1945. So to me, it really makes no difference if the devs got it right or wrong. At least the devs gave us a railing that looks reasonably nice. I'm just glad that it isn't messed up or anything... So shouldn't we be content about our rails?

And even if people argue about the importance of the railing, you have to admit that we certainly do have more pressing issues at hand... Certainly more important than railings...

In the interest of realism, no, we shouldn't be content with the rails.

We fix reflections, why not the rails and whatnot?

We fix the cables, why not the rails and whatnot?

We have camera mods, sound mods, sky mods, smoke mods, torpedo color mods, etc.. all of which are not "really" important in the interest of gameplay, yet people do desire them because they make the game better. There isn't really anything wrong with wanting the most out of a gaming experience, whether it be through graphics mods or gameplay mods.

There are a lot of little tid-bits here and there that can be fixed. I would imagine that fixing the rails and other little details is not a monumental undertaking, though I do not know for sure.

If I had any idea how to do it I would go ahead and fix all the little things myself and release it to the community.

@ Ark

Ok, you do make some good points, although I still have my personal beliefs that the railing isn't very important... But don't worry, I'm not here to argue against you...

Do we have any pictures for those modders who might be interested in adressing this?? I'm sure there are modders out there who share the same interest as you, but maybe they just don't have enough pictures to work with...

No worries.

I'm looking for some pics right now. I use to have a bunch of U-boat schematics around but I am having trouble locating them. If I can find them, it might help out modders with other projects as well.

I think the best reference if book pics and whatnot are not readily available are pics from some of the U-Boat model kits out out there, especially the models that people enter in competitions. Some of the work is amazing.

Here is few sets of pics of VIIC models:

I can only speak for myself as a Model maker so this is by no means an indication for the rest of those who do models, but to me this is a very LOW priority on the list of things to do. Personaly I have no issue with the rails nor do I have 1 with the torpedo outa doors, in fact I have no idea why but all my subs cables are correct straight out of the box! So in truth for me at least this is something thats not even ON the list of things to do.

However it never hurts to ask and you maybe lucky to get 1 of the other guys to pick up the torch.

Good Luck with your project and here's to Hoping you get it sorted.

For the sake of historicly correct-ness the deck railing should be fixed . Out of all the research done by the dev team i cant understand why this was not fixed in the first place . I pointed this out to the dev team but they failed to fix it .
