Default Finally! An XXI On The Menu

Got back April 6'44 after my 30th & Flotilla mission and was surprised to see a Type XXI available under the U-Boat selection menu.

The cost? 30000 in renown - somewhat more than I have now - bummmer

Think I'll restart the campaign, being a bit more careful about how I spend my renown going forward!

Or, just go to your career file and give yourslef 30000 more renown than you got on your last patrol. Spend the 30000 to upgrade your boat and youll be back to the renown you should have.

Justify it this way: Why WOULDNT command give you a new U-boat if one became available! Theyre gonna want you to attack shipping in the channel leading up to and after the invasion.

Speaking of which, if you go to normandy on june 6, '44, can you find an unholy number of lst's, destroyers and whatnot? I was curious about that...

I reckon 30000 is too much anyway. If you want to adjust the renown cost for the Type XXI, you can do so by editing the text in data\Cfg\Basic.cfg using Wordpad. Do three searches: one for "Renown0=30000", one for "Renown1=30000" and another for "Renown2=30000". These are the costs for the Type XXI. Change them all to 15000 (or whatever suits you) and save the file.

I don't think there is an invasion fleet present in the SHIII campaigns.
There IS however a single player mission that has the invasion fleet modeled and you can go after 'em to your hearts content.
(Don't remember seeing any LST's though...)

The only place I've seen any LST's is on some of the cargo ships.

Does anyone know how many type XXIs actually went out on patrol, anyway? I went to http://uboat.net/ and it seems like there were only 2 or 3. :hmm:

Considering this, 30000 renown doesn't seem so outrageous to me. Bit of a bummer from a game-play point of view, though.

Only one went on an actual patrol. It never fired a shot in anger.
